Nathalie J. Brand

Nathalie Johanna Brand, age 73, of Stanton, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Sheridan Community Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 28 at 11:00 am at Hansen Janowicz Funeral Home in Remus with Rev. Paul Carmichael officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 27th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Sherman Township. Nathalie was born on May 11, 1941, the daughter of Henry and Johanna (Boettcher) Smith. After graduating from Remus High School in 1959, she worked for four years as a bookkeeper at the Roosevelt Hotel in Lansing. She and her husband, Rolland, were married on April 4, 1963. Together they built their own home and raised a family. Nathalie was a wonderful Mom and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an intelligent woman with a wonderful sense of humor who could find amusement in anything. She enjoyed going to garage sales, the outdoors, and camping in the Upper Peninsula. She liked watching the deer that came into her backyard, was an avid gardener, and loved flowers. She often looked to the sky in wonder at the many jets passing high overhead. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, Rolland; three sons, Michael, Joseph and Timothy (Heather); one daughter, Patricia (Eric) Fredrickson; six granddaughters; one grandson; one brother, Soenckie Smith; sisters, Margie Remer, Arlene Parrish and Louise Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Nathalie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Louis.
