Adonais J. "Don" Serrano's Obituary
Big Rapids - Adonais J. "Don" Serrano, 86, of Big Rapids, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday July 17, 2018. He was born May 1, 1932, in Canones, New Mexico, the son of Aquilino and Raquel (Garcia) Serrano.
Throughout his life, Don was deeply involved with community and church. He volunteered extensively and received many awards for his involvement. Over the years he was also involved in different mission activities, acting on church mission boards and volunteering at McCurdy Mission School in New Mexico. Don enjoyed gardening and playing his guitar.
In 1992 Don married Lillian Carr in New Mexico, they moved to Big Rapids in 2007.
Don is survived by two step-daughters, Martine (Marc) Fiting and Maureen Kubitskey, both of Big Rapids; two sons, Leonard and Patrick Serrano; 3 daughters, Sandra Serrano, Stella Nino, and Lillian Villalobes; four brothers, Tony, Benny, Gene, and Aquilino Jr.; four sisters, Viola Morfin, Mary Lou Boies, Delma Fernandas, and Inez Gallegos; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian in 2012.
A memorial service for Don will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor Rebecca Morrison officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Cran-Hill Ranch, or McCurdy School in New Mexico through the First United Methodist Church.
