Mecosta During the years that she raised a family, Agnes was active in her church and served as camp nurse and sometimes cook at Christian Life Camp-a two or three week camping program sponsored by the church they attended in Lincoln Park, MI and several other churches. Agnes returned to the workforce as a cook at a nursery school for blind children prior to returning to nursing. She was employed at Lynn Hospital in Lincoln Park for a year and then at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn from 1961 to 1971. She became head nurse on the surgical floor. Upon retirement in 1969, Agnes and Arthur moved to Millecoquins Lake located near Engadine, MI. In 1997 they moved to Silver Maples Retirement Community in Chelsea, MI and lived there until 2003. She has lived at Royal View Retirement Community in Mecosta, MI from 2003 to the present. Funeral services for Agnes will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home in Chelsea, Michigan with Pastor Bill Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Chelsea. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan. Arrangements are by the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Agnes C. Ruff Buss , age 99, of Royal View Retirement Community, Mecosta passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. She was born June 24, 1912 to Mary Louise Edinger-Ruff and Jacob Ruff in Gackle, North Dakota which is located midway between Fargo and Bismarck. Agnes had four older brothers, Arthur, Edwin, Emil and Clarence, two younger sisters, Lenora and Theodora and a younger brother, Raymond. The family moved to Benton Harbor, MI in November 1920. She attended school there, graduating from high school in 1930. She attended Mounds-Midway nursing school in St. Paul, MN and graduated with a RN degree. On Christmas day in 1935 she married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Buss. Agnes is survived by two sons, Arthur (Patricia) Buss of Liberty, MO and Jack (Marion) Buss of Big Rapids, four grand daughters, Elizabeth (Jonathon) Lightfoot, Carolyn (Kent) Gillespie, Christine (Andras) Buss Zilak and Katherine (Christopher) Hoving, seven great grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arthur, one sister and all of her brothers.
