Agnes "Tootie" Schnick's Obituary
Agnes "Tootie" Schnick, passed away December 6, 2016 in Sarasota, FL where she has lived for the last seven years. Tootie was born Agnes Buelah Behrenwald on January 2, 1925. Tootie attended the Knot-Maul School through 8th grade. She graduated from Lakeview High School class of 1942.
Tootie married Albert G. Schnick in 1943. She started working at Lakeview Medical Center in 1954 and was employed there over 30 years.
Tootie loved the outdoors, taking part in many fishing and out west hunting trips in her younger years. She also enjoyed helping people and serving the community including being President and District President of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Post 3701 in Lakeview. She was an active member in the Methodist Women's Group and served on the AD-Board of the church. She also did volunteer work at the Veteran's Facility in Grand Rapids for 23 years.
In her later years, Tootie liked to crochet, read and watch M.S.U. Sports on tv.
Tootie spent her life doing for other people and helping wherever she could. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and beloved friend to countless people. She will be missed dearly.
Tootie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Albert Schnick, one sister Dessie, brothers Dean and George "Marvin" Behrenwald, also son-in-law Don Harrington.
Tootie will be greatly missed by her children Sandy Schnick Harrington, Patty (Ron) Hawley, Sue (Kevin) Griffith, and George Schnick; extended family Bob Wheeler, David (Gina) Anderson, and David Leary whom she thought of as her own children; grandchildren David and Patrick Leary, Jason Johnson, Trina and Don Harrington, Gus and Randi Campbell, and Trever Schnick; great-grandchildren Sierra, Emma, Samuel Leary, Jarrod and Hunter Johnson, Hunter Campbell, Al Raleigh, Idan Johnson; many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
A Celebration of Life for Tootie will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior, at New Life United Methodist Church in Six Lakes, MI, with Rev. Sue Babb officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Life United Methodist Church.
