Albert Robert Barker's Obituary
After 90 great years, Albert Robert Barker passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 with his wife by his side, as she always was. He married Betty Loomis on June 25, 1949. Al and Betty were never far apart.
Al served proudly in the South Pacific for the United States Navy during WWII; he spoke of this service to his country often. He was a member of the VFW Post 5065, Sheridan, MI. He enjoyed his family most of all and spent time fishing, hunting and winning at keno. He was a great story teller, a man that could spin a tale for anyone. We will miss that but never forget the stories we have heard. Al made 'tin men' that people have shared all over the country.
With a tear in his eye, he leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years, Betty and his adoring children Karla Barker (David), Linda Shotwell (Steve) and David Barker; special grandchildren Austin Shotwell (Anna), Kirby Shotwell (Gary) and Michael McCabe and two great-grand children: Wyatt and Quinn that were the light of his life. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee who never left his heart.
A Celebration of Life Service is planned for Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 4:00PM at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. Visitation will follow the service until 6:00PM. Those wishing to make a memorial contribution are asked to consider the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
