Alice Arlene Baldwin's Obituary
Alice Arlene Baldwin, age 85 of Remus, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial mass will be held in her honor Friday, June 5th, at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus with Fr. Aaron Ferris as celebrant. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus, and again on Friday from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the church.
Alice was born March 24, 1930, the daughter of Clayton and Edith (Foster) Miller. She was a teacher for many years at both Morley Stanwood and St. Michael’s Schools which she truly enjoyed. In her younger years, Alice was very involved at St. Michael church helping out wherever and whenever she could. She handled many luncheons for the church and was even a member of the National Council of Catholic Women.
Alice enjoyed camping, fishing, canning, spending her winters in Arizona and of course, her time spent with family. She was a collector of teapots and had over 350 of them in all different shapes and sizes. Quilting was one of her best talents and anyone she knew having a baby always received one of her beautiful quilts.
Alice was described as being loving, caring, funny and oh so proud of her family’s accomplishments.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Ken Skalitzky, Tom (Vicki) Skalitzky and Steve (Ann) Skalitzky; daughters, Nancy (Jim) Anderson and Karen (Clinton) Stevens; step-sons, Ed, Kelly and Doug; step-daughter, Deb; sisters, Doris Sides and Neva Jean Cole; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Skalitzky; second husband, Leander Baumann; third husband, John Baldwin; infant brother, Paul Miller, and special friend Bill Hicks.
