Alice L. Fitzgerald's Obituary
Tustin - Alice L. Fitzgerald, 93, of Tustin, formerly of Big Rapids and Cadillac, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2017, at her residence. She was born October 1, 1924, in Norwich Township, the daughter of Charles and Isabel (Tornblom) Jensen, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1943. For several years, Alice worked as an operator for Michigan Bell Telephone in Big Rapids and Greenville. On July 30, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, she married Jack Fitzgerald. Alice was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cadillac. As a true servant to humanity, she was active with Love, Inc., in Cadillac. Alice also volunteered her time with the Commission on Aging and the Department of Human of Services. Her husband Jack preceded Alice in death in 2008. Surviving are four sons, Tom (Lynn) Pier-Fitzgerald of Holland, Doug (Jackie) Fitzgerald of Big Rapids, Bruce (Char) Fitzgerald of Houghton Lake, Larry Fitzgerald of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ed (Bev) Jensen, and Pete Jensen, both of Big Rapids; her beloved cousin Joshua Clark of Reed City; and several nieces and nephews. Alice was also preceded in death by her sister Judy Gilchrist, and her sister-in-law Judy Jensen. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids, with Rev. Rebecca Morrison, and Alice's granddaughter, Rev. Erin Racine officiating. Spring burial will be in the Van Gilder Cemetery. Alice's family will greet friends at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids on Friday, January 12, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., and after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for the First United Methodist Church of Cadillac, or Munson Home Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
