Alice Jeanette Junker's Obituary
Grand Rapids - Alice Jeanette Junker, 93, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away February 8, 2021 at the Village of Heather Hills in Grand Rapids.
She was born October 12, 1927 in Silver Creek, Nebraska, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Gaedeke) Pipke.
On August 30, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI, Alice married Elmer Junker. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary before Elmer passed away on December 10, 2013. She is survived by her children, Kathy (Mike) Rodrick, Peter (Monica) Junker, Dorothy Jean (John) Rogers, Sally (Kevin) Olson, and Gloria (Randy) Jensen; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren. Alice was also preceded in death by her son, Allen, grandson Kevin, her parents, and sisters, Irene, Louise and Carol.
While living in Big Rapids, Alice was active at St. Mary's and St. Paul's Catholic Church. She was also active in the Girl Scouts, American Cancer Society of Mecosta County, and Red Cross. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, knitting and sewing. Alice and Elmer enjoyed many years traveling together.
She has been living at the Village of Heather Hills in Grand Rapids. Alice's family is grateful for the support and friendship that Alice received from the staff and residents of Heather Hills and Hospice of Michigan, especially her aide Kim.
A Graveside service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Big Rapids will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021 with Father Michael Burt as celebrant. Alice will be laid to rest next to Elmer. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Avenue, SE, Ada, MI 49301. Care and arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
