Alice (Sam) Neufeld's Obituary
Alice (Sam) Lenore Neufeld, age 76, passed away on June 6, 2023. Born on Dec. 4, 1946 in Detroit, MI to Frederick and Alice (Tarling) Thompson, Sam joined her siblings as the 4th of 5 children.
Dance played an important part throughout Sam’s life. Her leadership skills soared when she taught dance in her younger years. She met the love of her life (Rick) while dancing. Speaking up was never hard for Sam, she was a very direct person and called out most things for what they were. At the same time, friends and family understood her heart was full of love and edges were softened by her devotion to her family.
Growing up in Michigan, Sam had a lifelong love of the water, which carried through the years as she loved waterskiing, fishing, and swimming. She enjoyed passing these loves on to her children and grandchildren, teaching her skills to all of them. In 1988, she greeted the New Year as a bride, marrying Rick Neufeld.
Sam showered family and friends with love through meals, particularly if there was a special need, she was there with tuna, egg salad sandwich tray and essentials. Her thoughtful and caring ways will be dearly missed. She had a chartable heart of gold.
Left to carry on her memory are her husband, Rick Neufeld; children, Roxsanne (David), Brian (Melissa), Theresa, and Julia (J.R.); grandchildren, Justin, Makayla, Chelsea, Nicole, Taryn, and Ella, and sister, Renee.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Fred and Alice, and her siblings, Bill, Peggy and Fred.
Per her wishes, cremation will take place with a service to follow at a later date.
