Alvin Clyde Fredrick's Obituary
Paris - Alvin C. Fredrick, 78, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at his residence. He was born September 9, 1935, in Big Rapids, the son of Franklin and Louise (Zimmerman) Fredrick, and lived in the area his entire life. Al graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1955. For over 30 years, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Operators Local #324. Al also owned and operated a family tree farm for many years. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, where he was baptized and confirmed, and was active in many different ways. On July 11, 1964, Al married Phyllis McDonald, who preceded him in death on February 7, 1998. On June 26, 2009, he married Lucy Cousineau, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Ann (Mark) Ratcliffe of Midland, Julie (Dan) Fults of Gaylord, Ross (Virgi) Fredrick of Chippewa Lake, and Adam (Dawn) Fredrick of Big Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his sister Karen (Gary) Todd of Paris; sister-in-law Shirley (LeRoy) Hagen of Holton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 13, 2013, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Pastor John Bookshaw officiating. Burial will be in the Park Hill Cemetery in Paris. Russ' family will greet friends today (Thursday) from 2-5 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions in Al's name may be made for St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Hospice of Michigan, with envelopes available at the church or funeral home.
