Amparo Gonzalez's Obituary
Amparo Gonzalez, 89, of Edmore passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Amparo was born on April 5, 1937, in Ameca Jalisco, Mexico to parents Rufino and Catalina Jimenez. She was raised in Mexico until moving to Michigan in 1958. On December 5, 1958, Ramon Gonzalez took Amparo to be his bride. The couple were married 37 years before Ramon passed in 1995. They shared the joy of raising 5 children together. Amparo was a devoted Christian. She cherished cooking and sewing for her family as well, pouring love in every dish and stitch. Family, especially spending time with her grandchildren, were treasured moments in Amparo’s life.
Amparo will be deeply missed by her children, Efren (Angela) Gonzalez of Howard City, Amparo Gonzalez of Edmore, Raymond (Linda) Gonzalez of Riverdale, Arturo Gonzalez of Six Lakes, Carmelita (Ronald) Bailey of Greenville; grandchildren, Nina (Jeb), Tonya (Duane), Ramon (Alisha), Theresa (Larry), Steven (Leah), David, Crystal, April (Jeremy), and Mia; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Reynalda (Jose Lopez) Jimenez; and many extended family members in California and Mexico.
Amparo was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 5 siblings.
A funeral for Amparo will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Edmore. Family will greet friends from 1:30 PM until the service begins at 3:30 PM.
