Andrew Louis Amaral's Obituary
Andrew Louis Amaral entered into eternal rest December 14, 2021 in Midland, Michigan. He was 74 years old. Per Andrew’s wishes, cremation will take place. Service details will be made public once they are available.
Andrew was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and attended high school at Bunnell High in Connecticut. During the same week he completed his education, he was drafted into the Army and served with the 1st Battalion, 11th Infantry Regiment and the 5th mechanized infantry division during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, Andrew went on to work for The United States Postal Service for 25 years, where he found true enjoyment in his work.
Andrew encompassed the most desirable characteristics you could desire in a father. He was encouraging, proud, humorous and stubborn! He enjoyed “roasting” friends and family at their own expense. He loved the New York Yankees, Miami Dolphins, and his Corvette. After Andy came back from the war, he came back with a new respect for life and others. He was active- walking often, and fed the stray cats and Birds around town. Andrew was devoted to his faith. Although it was difficult for him to attend Mass, he always held his faith close to his heart and donated to St. Michael’s Parish when he could.
Left to treasure his warm memory are his children, Natillie Amaral, Alicia Amaral, Kathryn Amaral; two stepsons; brothers, John (Pat) Amaral, Milt (Pat) Amaral; nephew, Stephen Amaral; his ex-wife and friend, Jean Crowley; good friend and helper, Bruce Mullard; many grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Lydia.
Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Alice (Caravalho) Amaral; and his niece, Lisa, who was also his goddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family.
