So very sorry to hear of Anita’s passing. I remember Anita and Johns wedding fondly. As a younger distant ‘cousin’ I was always fascinated to hear of Anita’s life in the States, and marvelled at how close Anita remained with Aunty Joyce, Uncle David and her sister Elaine. Jackie Bines lit a candle in memory of Anita Jewell
My dear friend Anita where do I start. We’ve been friends for over 50 years, never a break in connection despite the distance between us. We would often not speak for weeks but always picked up where we’d left off. We met at the Haverettes and played trumpet and baritone together. We both had boyfriends called John and together we shared many life experiences including buying our first homes, getting married and having children. I am thankful to have so many memories, old and new; Experimenting with hair removing wax strips in Anita’s bedroom (hilarious and painful), shopping and not being able to say I liked anything because Anita wanted to buy everything I commented on (always so generous) and her being cross with me for calling my husbands pants his “knickers”. These are the funny little quirky things that will always make me smile. I’m so glad to have spent time this year with her. Anita, I will miss you dearly. I hope my pictures will sum up our friendship over the years.
Our lovely Auntie Anita. Despite being thousands of miles away most my life almost all my childhood memories have her in them and she has very much shaped who I am as an adult today.
Reading some of these other posts it so comforting to see everyone else saw just how special she was! There really isn't words to describe what she meant to us all and what a hole it's left but I will forever take advantage of a good sale, enjoy my music in the car remembering all those drives with her. I know I'm just as opinionated and stubborn as her and what a woman to learn from on how to stick up for yourself in life and your family who were the most important thing to her than anything!

Anita is my big sister I have so many memories that I really can’t begin to write them down. We shared our childhood together our teenage years and our early years as young mums. Anita knows all my secrets and would always tell me in her own words what to do .Even the Atlantic Ocean could not break our special bond and the love that we shared for each other. My amazing auntie, I will miss you and love you forever. Although we were far by distance you were always closest to me by heart.
I have the most amazing memories growing up with you when you were still in England that will never leave me. Trips to visit you all in the US once you had moved and our amazing weekend in NYC when you visited me whilst I was on a work trip, lots of memories on that trip that I will never forget, it was such a special time together. I always looked forward to you and uncle visiting us, like no time had ever passed. How lucky as a family that we are all so close.
