Ardith Emma Martz's Obituary
Big Rapids - Ardith Emma Martz, 94, of Paris, passed away Thursday July 19, 2018 at Metron of Big Rapids.
She was born November 27, 1923, in Reed City, the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Blank) Stenberg. Ardith grew up on the family farm on Meceola Road in what was known as Crapo Flats, and attended the Simms Country School in Crapo. On October 27, 1947, Ardith married Owen D. Martz, and the couple settled near Paris.
For many years, Ardith worked at Mark IV in Big Rapids until retiring in the mid-80's. She was a longtime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, a life member of the Big Rapids Antique Farm and Power Club, and a former member of the Greasy Fingers Two-Cylinder Club. Ardith also enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
Ardith was preceded in death by her husband Owen on January 31, 2017. She is survived by many dear nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and -nephews, in-laws, and friends. Ardith was also preceded by her brothers Everitt and Alvin Stenberg.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2018, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jonathan Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Plains Cemetery. Ardith's family will greet friends from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, July 22, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, and after 10 a.m. on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made for the St. Peter's Lutheran School Scholarship Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home or church.
