Arletha Grayer's Obituary
Big Rapids - Arletha Grayer, 74, of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018, at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
She was born February 26, 1944 in Isola, MS. Arletha was a long-time member of the Third Avenue United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. She enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, and most of all she enjoyed life. She will be remembered for her loving, caring, and compassionate ways to anyone and everyone.
She will be missed dearly by her children, James Tucker of Evart, MI, David Grayer of Rogers Height, MI, Curtis Greer of Chicago, Ollie Greer of Big Rapids, Michael Greer of Chicago, Shikala Grayer of Chicago, Etta Welch of Big Rapids, and Crystal Grayer of Chicago; brothers, Eugene Simmons of Indianola, MS, Willie Simmons of Big Rapids, Robert Simmons of Reed City, MI, and Derrick J. Simmons of Evart; sisters, Rosie Thompson of Chicago, Patricia Simmons of Big Rapids, and Doris Winburn of Salina, KS; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Arletha was preceded in death by her mother Ollie Mae Simmons, daughter Linda Ann Masoud, brothers Roosevelt Simmons Jr., Frank Simmons, and Lovell Simmons, sisters, Oletha Simmons, Ruby Simmons, Welthe Franklin, and Linda Lee Simmons.
Funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Burial will follow in the Highland View Cemetery. Arletha's family will greet friends beginning at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, until time of service.
