Arthur Albert Adleman's Obituary
Arthur Albert Adleman, aged 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 11, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on July 13, 1933, in Fennville, MI, the son of Emery Floyd and Winnie Ann (Taylor) Adleman.
Art grew up in the Big Rapids area, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1950. During the Korean War, he served with the U. S. Navy. Following his discharge, he returned to Big Rapids, and graduated from Ferris Institute. Art lived much of his adult life in Ohio, and his early career was spent in electronics. Later, he enjoyed a successful career in medical diagnostic imaging sales. He was an active member and past president of the Westerville, OH Jaycees.
After retirement Art returned to Michigan where he quickly became active in the Big Rapids community. He was a Mecosta County Commissioner for several years and was involved with several related agencies, committees and other local organizations. He was an active member of Trinity Fellowship Church.
Art was active his entire life and enjoyed waterskiing, tennis, hiking, kayaking, golf and bicycling where he logged many miles on the White Pine Trail. His most memorable adventure was on his 80th birthday when he jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, skydiving. He also loved to travel whether for his medical sales career that took him around the world or for pleasure closer to home.
Art is survived by his three children, April (George) Nelson of Franklin TN; Debra (Bill Chance) Adleman of Montrose, PA; and Brad (Lori) Adleman of Springville, PA; one grandson, three step grandchildren, four step greatgrandchildren; one brother, Duane (Joyce) Adleman of Eaton Rapids, MI; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Eldora "Dolly" Lile; and his brother Floyd Adleman.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, at Trinity Fellowship Church in Big Rapids with Bill Routley officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Chippewa Lake Cemetery in a private service. Memorial donations may be given to The American Heart Association or Trinity Fellowship Church.
