Austin Lee Grice's Obituary
Lakeview-Austin Lee Grice, age 18, of Mecosta passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. He was born in Big Rapids on May 7, 2001, the son of Jeremy and Karri (Smith) Grice. He was raised in the Mecosta area, and was a Senior at Lakeview Community Schools. He also attended the Montcalm Area Career Center where he studied welding.
Austin was well loved by family, friends, community, and the teachers and students at Lakeview Community Schools. His friends were his world. He had a funny sense of humor. Austin enjoyed hobbies that most teenage young men enjoy, gaming, Xbox, and sports (baseball, basketball, football, and working out). Austin would send a text from school asking his grandma what she was making for supper and putting in special requests. He loved camping and would sleep in the recliner in the camper. Austin was always smiling and didn't have an enemy. He loved golfing with his dad. All animals loved him and would gravitate to him. He really enjoyed playing airsoft with siblings. When something got broke it was always "Austin did it". He wrestled with cousins and even enjoyed teasing his mom (towel whipping and grocery store escapades). He loved fuzzy blankets and wanted a new one every year, layering his bed and in the camper. He followed the twins around like a shadow. His family was everything. He would convince family members into picking him up from school and taking him to McDonald's. One of Austin's favorite slogans was "Kick Rocks".
Austin will forever be missed by his mother, Karri (Randy) Thomas of Mecosta; his father, Jeremy Grice of Mecosta; his siblings, Matthew (Brittany) Saez and their baby daughter who is on the way, of Remus, Courtney Sturdavant of Mecosta, Aaron Thomas of Manistee; his grandparents, Bill and Linda Smith of Mecosta, Butch and Pam Grice of Florida, and Marcy Wolf of Stanton; aunts and uncles, Darren (Heather) Grice, Amy (Scott) Christensen, Jeff (Rachel) Grice all of Greenville, David Wiser of Stanton, Kelly (Randy) Wheeler of Mecosta, Abbey (Matt) Sellers of Remus; countless cousins; and several best friends, including Jacob Andriacchi of Lakeview.
