Barbara Ruth Neuberger's Obituary
Barbara Ruth Neuberger of Edmore passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Arbor Grove Assisted Living in Alma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin (Marty), her sons Martin and Joseph, in addition to her parents, Ruth and Wallie Newsted, and 11 siblings. Born on September 23, 1934, she was thankful for her 91 years of life. Barbara is survived by her sons Micheal (Kaye) Neuberger of Blanchard, Phillip Neuberger of Anchorage, AK; daughter Anne (Mike) King of Vestaburg; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She always cherished the time spent with her children and subsequent offspring. Her only living sister, Beverly Hyde of Onaway, was deeply saddened to learn of Barbara’s passing; two sisters-in-law, Illah Newsted of White Cloud and Florence Newsted of Fremont will be affectionately remembering her as well.
Barbara spent her young life growing up in Onaway, spending many hours working and helping on her family’s farm. She always said that although life was not easy, it also didn’t hurt her and provided her with understanding and value that is gained through hard work and perseverance. She especially placed a great deal of importance on family and made every effort to pass that same value on to her children and grandchildren.
While she will be missed by her family, all who love her know she is happily reunited with her husband of nearly 60 years. Marty and Barbara were married on July 24, 1954, in Onaway. During the early years of their marriage, they moved several times, finally making Edmore their forever home. Barbara remained in their home until Marty’s passing in 2014, until she was no longer physically able to do so, and then took residence at Arbor Grove in Alma.
Barbara’s children extend sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Arbor Grove. During her four years of residency, Barbara was always treated with the greatest respect and care. All of the staff were always kind and compassionate and went the extra mile to provide every possible comfort for their residents.
A funeral service for Barbara will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Edmore, with family greeting friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment to follow in Barbara’s hometown at Vinewood Cemetery.
