Barbara Jean Stuk's Obituary
Barbara Jean Stuk, age 94, of Six Lakes passed away at Lakeview Terrace on January 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 5, 1931, to John and Francis (Kowalski) Shippy. Barbara was raised in Grand Rapids, graduating with the Class of 1949 from Union High School. On April 14, 1951, she married the love of her life, Gordon Stuk and took on the role of wife and mother to 7 children. Barbara enjoyed gardening, baking pies, house cleaning and being outdoors. She was employed by Meijer Stores as a cashier for 11 years before retiring in 1988. Barbara was a devout Catholic and throughout her time at Lakeview Terrace enjoyed weekly visits with Deacon Rick. Her children and family would like to thank all the caregivers, nurses, and Interim Hospice staff for the care they graciously and wonderfully provided to Barbara.
Barbara is survived by her children, Debra (Gary)Towne of Six Lakes, Michele (Harlan) Brouwer of Allendale, Daniel (Sue) Stuk of Grandville, Donald (Trina) Stuk of Hastings, Jack (Tina) Stuk of Grandville, Jerry (Chris) Stuk of Howard City; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Stuk; 25 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon in 2004; son, Michael; and her parents, John and Francis.
Graveside services will take place in the Spring. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Lakeview.
