Beatrice Marie Powell's Obituary
Rodney - Beatrice Marrie Powell, 77, of Chiefland, FL, formerly of Rodney, went home to be with Jesus Saturday April 14, 2018, in Gainesville, FL.
She was born October 29, 1940, in Charlotte, MI, the daughter of Leroy and Alma (Wise) Wilson, and grew up near Rodney, where she lived most of her life. In 1959, Bea graduated from Mecosta High School, and later that year she married Floyd D. Powell.
For over 20 years, Bea was an active volunteer at the Mecosta County Senior Center, performing a variety of tasks. She had a smile and kind work for everyone she came in touch with. Bea loved her family, and her Lord Jesus Christ, and that was reflected in her everyday activities.
Her husband Floyd preceded Bea in death on August 6, 1996. Surviving are her son Charles of Chiefland, FL; daughters Joyce Covey of Rodney, Irene Eckert and Tina Powell of Cadillac; 3 grandchildren, Mandy (Joel) Martinson, Delbert Coil, and Max Eckert; 1 great granddaughter Anna Marrie Martinson; 2 sisters Stella Hess and Bessie Mattaliano; several nieces and nephews; and very good friend Dale Coil. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Shirley, her sister Velma Knowles, and her brother John Wilson.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Joe Cottle officiating. Burial will follow in the Rodney Cemetery. Bea's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-6 p.m., and at the funeral home prior to services on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made for the Mecosta County Senior Center's Volunteer Program, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
