Bernard "Jack" Scott's Obituary
age 87, of Lakeview, MI, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Lakeview Terrace. Jack was born February 17, 1928 in Lakeview, the son of Harry Leroy and Treva Lucille (Wilkinson) Scott. He was raised in Lakeview and graduated from Flint Central High School in 1946.
Upon graduation, Jack joined the United States Marines Corp and served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict.
Jack married the love of his life Letty Jane (Laper) Scott on June 4, 1950 at the Congregational Church of Lakeview.
Jack was employed as the Body Shop Manager for Bollinger's Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth Car Dealership in Lakeview for forty seven years. He was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview and enjoyed church activities. Jack served many years on the church council, was a church usher, and also assisted Letty with the Altar Guild duties. Jack was proud to serve on the Auto Body Advisory Committee at Ferris State University and was an active member of the Lakeview VFW. His many hobbies included golfing, sailboat racing and boating with his family. Over the years, he custom built by hand, several boats, including a racing Hydroplane, Sailfish, and his pride and joy "Y-Flyer". He had incredible woodworking skills and built beautiful toys for his grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Letty Scott; his parents, Harry and Treva Scott, and his brother Allen Dean Scott.
Jack will be deeply missed by his son Dan (Mary) Scott of Clarkston, MI; two grandchildren Brooklynn and Ryan Scott, both of Clarkston; special nieces and nephews: Tonya (Bill) Porter, Renee (Mark) Chmiel and daughter Caroline, Don (Paula) Reichle and son Will, and Ralph (Amy) Reichle and sons Charlie and Henry; his church family, and by countless friends and family.
A celebration of Jack's life will take place at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lakeview, Michigan with Pastor Steven Voelkers officiating on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation for Jack, will be one hour before the service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. All are invited to a luncheon following the service at the church located at 8890 Tamarack Rd. Lakeview, Michigan. Memorial contributions in Jack's memory may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
