Bernice McShane's Obituary
Big Rapids -Bernice McShane, 83, of Big Rapids, formerly of Morley, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, from Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born February 14, 1932, in Detroit, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Kutcha. On February 20, 1960, Bernice married John F. "Jack" McShane, and they lived in the Detroit area until moving to Morley in 1978. For many years, Bernice worked in Food Service at Ferris State University until retiring in 1994. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Howard City. Bernice enjoyed life to the fullest, and loved to make people laugh. Attending potlucks, meeting and helping people, and spending time with family were her greatest joys. Her husband Jack preceded Bernice in death in 1993. Surviving are their children, John (Judy) McShane of Noblesville, IN, Mary (Dean) Withers of Big Rapids, Jim (Sherri) McShane of Kentwood; 11 grandchildren, Charity, Jimmy, Sean, Gary, Amanda, Olivia, J.R., Zach, Shelby, Mikala, and Alex; 4 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, David, Haley, and Ezra; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend Teri Knight of Morley. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Father Chuck Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in the St. Apollonia Cemetery in Morley. Bernice's family will greet friends today (Friday) from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions in her name made be to the Mecosta County United Way Kids Programs, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
