Beryl Wilkinson's Obituary
Big Rapids Beryl Wilkinson, 84, of Big Rapids, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, December 4, 2009, from Mecosta County Medical Center. He was born January 5, 1925, in Big Rapids, the son of Judson and Lena (Samuels) Wilkinson, and lived here most of his life. For several years, Beryl worked on oil rigs, and then at the Heinz Pickle Plant in Big Rapids until it closed. He then worked in construction for Art Johnson, and more recently Steve Jones until retiring. Beryl was a longtime member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids. He loved to bowl, play Wii with his grandchildren, and most of all playing cards. His wife Vivian preceded Beryl in death in 1999 Surviving are Richard (Veronica) Wilkinson, Michael (Diane) Wilkinson, Daniel (Debra) Wilkinson, Terry Wilkinson, Kathy Barnes, and Denise (Jon) Erlandson; grandchildren Thomas and Tara Erlandson, and their special friend Stacia Detweiler; half-brothers Alvin Steig and Sanford Vern Steig; half-sister Marion Lindquist; and several step-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Jesse, twin brother Earl, and half-brother Clyde Stillwell. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Big Rapids, with Rev. John Bookshaw officiating. Burial will be in the West Cemetery in Green Township. Beryls family will greet friends after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions in his name may be made for St. Peters Lutheran Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids.
