Betty Christensen's Obituary
Lakeview - Betty L. (Withey) Christensen, age 91, of Coral, MI, passed away May 31, 2016 at Spectrum Health Kelsey Campus, in Lakeview, MI. She was born April 27, 1925 in Edmore, MI, the daughter of Bernie and Glenna (Richardson) Withey. She was raised on a farm between Edmore and Blanchard, MI. Betty married Gene Christensen on September 12, 1944. She was a housewife, seamstress and built gliders at Gibsons in Greenville, MI. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, camping, horseback riding, but she loved her family. She was an active participant, when she was younger, of the square dances in Six Lakes. Betty was President of the Rainbow Lake Garden Club, and a member of Farm Bureau, and the Saddle Club of Lakeview.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Gene Christensen; her parents Bernie and Glenna Withey; her brothers Earl and Duane Withey.
Betty was survived by her sons Michael (Helen) Christensen and Keith (Louise) Christensen; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and luncheon will be held at Cowden Lake Christian Church (corner of Coral Road and Gravel Ridge Rd.) on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bob Oliveira officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
