Betty Virginia Scramlin's Obituary
Betty Virginia Scramlin age 88 passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Schnepp Senior care and Rehab. Center in St. Louis, MI. Betty was born November 21, 1927 the daughter of Marion and Elva (Draper) Johnston. She was united in marriage to Wayne A. Scramlin on March 21, 1947 in Crystal, Michigan; he preceded her in death on February 28, 2016. Betty retired from the Bank of Alma after 30 dedicated years of service. She was the first woman to become a branch manager and Vice President for the Bank of Alma. She enjoyed gardening; she had a green thumb, painting, bowling, golf and playing any kind of game. Betty was extremely competitive. Betty especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Betty is survived by her loving children; Phillip (Pamela) Scramlin of Clinton Township, David (Mary) Scramlin of Rockford and Stewart (Cheryl) Scramlin of Hillman, 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and cousins. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne, a grandson, Joshua Scramlin, brother, Basil Johnston and sister, Hazel Fitzpatrick.
Funeral services for Betty will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior the service starting at 10:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore, MI, with Reverend Mike Riegler officiating. The family will be accepting friends for visitation on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, MI. There will be a luncheon immediately following the service at the church. Private burial will take place in Green Cemetery. Those wishing to contribute in Betty's memory are asked to consider the Alzheimer's Association of Gratiot County or Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
