Betty Jean Webster's Obituary
Lakeview-Betty Jean (Swartwood) Webster, age 87, of Lakeview passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at home with her family by her side, after fighting a long brave battle with cancer. She was born in Stanwood on June 9, 1934, the daughter of Harry and Carol (Doxtator) Swartwood. Betty was raised in the Morley Stanwood area and attended Big Rapids Schools. She married the love of her life, Merle Webster on March 15, 1952, in White Cloud. Betty was a homemaker and busy mom to her 4 children before being employed at Kelsey Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department for 18 years and then at Brockway Christian Academy as a teacher's aide until her retirement in 2018. She was an active member of the Brockway Wesleyan Church where she served as the church secretary and taught Sunday School for many years. She had a true passion for ministering to children. Betty was very sentimental and enjoyed camping, sunsets on Lake Mitchell, her flower gardens, holidays and shopping, especially at Kohls or for a good bargain.
Betty is survived by her husband, Merle of Lakeview; children Barbara (David) Moser of Carson City, Diana (Dave) Hamilton of Six Lakes, Steven (Jackie) Webster of Lakeview, Jeff (Sherry) Webster of Okeechobee, FL; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay (Irvin) Beardslee of Lakeview, "Emma" Liz ("Bob") Perez of Lakeview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Carol; siblings, Helen (Gerald) Sharp, Dale Swartwood, Fred (Rosemary) Swartwood, and Thelma Baltierriz.
A funeral service will be held on at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Brockway Wesleyan Church, 10951 3 Mile Rd, Morley with Pastors Jeff Lemire and Roger Cooper officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, June 30 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the church and again on Thursday from 12:00 PM until time of service.
