Beverly Kay Ellis' Obituary
Beverly Kay Ellis, 79, of Hersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 8, 1947, in Big Rapids, the daughter of William and Shirley (Thompson) Graham. Beverly graduated from Reed City High School in 1965. She dedicated over 30 years of her life working at Kraft Tube, and following her retirement, she continued to stay active working at The Rock Café at Ferris State University.
On May 2, 1964, she married Gordon Ellis, who preceded her in death in 2017.
Beverly was a devoted member of the Reed City Moose Lodge and the Paris United Methodist Church. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and treasured every moment with them. Beverly also enjoyed watching the birds and found comfort in the simple beauty of nature.
She is survived by her children, Sherry (Loren) Merklinger of Reed City and Mike (Erin) Ellis of Lansing; three grandchildren, Jake, Marissa, and Danny; one great-granddaughter, Harper; her brother, Gary (Janalee) Graham of Ludington; her sister-in-law, Bernice Graham of Reed City; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved four-legged companion and best friend, Sadie.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert.
Beverly will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Beverly’s life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids. A private family service will be held at United Methodist Church in Paris. She will be laid to rest in the Davenport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan P. Wheatlake Cancer Center or the Mecosta County ARC (Animal Rescue Coalition).
