Bill Lipar's Obituary
The Remus community lost lifelong resident, Bill Lipar, on May 16, 2022, just shy of his 68th birthday. William Alvin Lipar was born on May 22, 1954 to George and Dorothy (Moore) Lipar. Bill and his siblings grew up in Remus where Bill became a graduate of Chippewa Hills, attended St. Michael’s church and followed in his dad’s footsteps when he became the owner/operator of the Remus Tavern for 38 years.
On November 2, 1979, Bill married his sweetheart, Brenda Kornexl. Together Bill and Brenda raised sons Craig and Marty. In their later years, Bill and Brenda spent many happy hours traveling, especially on their annual trips to Florida.
Bill was an avid hockey fan, particularly the Red Wings as any patron of the Tavern could attest. He loved hockey, baseball, and golf especially where his nephews and his grandson, Duke were involved. Bill enjoyed hunting, golfing with his sons, and anything that involved family and friends.
Bill was a pillar of his community, investing both his time and talents to improve the town and give back the support and gifts he was given, even when it wasn’t noticed. He was very proud to be a business owner in Remus and worked diligently to see the place he loved thrive. As a straight shooter, one knew where they stood with Bill and whether he was busy with his family or his work, he put in his full efforts, never stagnant. He held a very special spot in the community and will be greatly missed.
Left to carry on his memory are his wife, Brenda; Sons Craig (Anndee) Lipar and Marty Lipar; Grandchildren Duke, Quinn, and Remy; Sister Deb (Vince) Mako; Brothers Paul (Phyllis) and Tom (Melany) Lipar; Bill’s beloved parents preceded him in death.
A visitation will take place Sunday, May 22 from 2pm-5pm at Janowicz Family Funeral Home. A mass at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church will be held Monday, May23 at 11am with Father Tom Boufford as celebrant. Family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service, and a luncheon will be held in the Parish Hall after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.
