Bruce Wilfred Jacobs' Obituary
Big Rapids - Bruce W. Jacobs, Jr., 59, of Rapid City, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away April 14, 2016 at Medical Munson Center in Traverse City. He was born August 1, 1956 in Flint, the son of Bruce and Joyce (Evans) Jacobs, and graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1974. Bruce then joined the U.S. Army, and served for three years. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Big Rapids, and earned his bachelor's degrees in both Occupational Safety and Plastics Engineering from Ferris State University. On April 2, 1982, Bruce married Vicki Lea Schuler, and they lived and worked in Marysville, OH, for nearly 20 years until moving to Rapid City in Antrim County. Bruce loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He adored his grandchildren, was a mentor to many, and had strong beliefs. Surviving are his wife Vicki; 3 children, Lindsey Jacobs, Kaitlin (Marc) McFarland, and Timothy Jacobs; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy, Josiah, Lily, and Harbor; his mother Joyce; his siblings, Sue (Greg) Straley of Manistee, Mike (Katie) of McHenry, IL, Pat (Cindy) of Delevan, WI, Mark (Colleen) of Alpena; Joni Lintemuth of Big Rapids, Matt (Tracey) of Grand Haven, and Tim (Mary) of Big Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bruce was preceded in death by his father exactly 13 years ago on April 14, 2003. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Ron Witbeck officiating. Bruce's family will greet friends on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home, and prior to services on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made in Bruce's name to the American Lung Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
