Carl Max Morrison's Obituary
Big Rapids - Carl M. Morrison, 82, of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, July 11, 2016, at his residence. He was born September 7, 1933, in Morley, the son of Wesley and Laura (Steinke) Morrison, and moved with his family to Big Rapids when he was six years old. In 1952, Carl graduated from Big Rapids High School, and then served in the United States Air Force, being honorably discharged in 1956. For 34 years, Carl worked for Consumer's Energy, retiring as sub-station operator in 1993. In 1991, Carl joined the Mecosta County Fair Board, where he still had remained actively involved. Carl was married to his wife Dorothy for 47 years until she passed away in 2013. Surviving are his children, Wesley Morrison of Big Rapids, Dennis (Pamela) Young of Georgia, Deb (Mike) Fountain, Daryl (Faye) Young, and Douglas Young, all of Big Rapids, and daughters Karen, Sandy, and Terri, all of Ludington; 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Carl was also preceded in death by his brother Art. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with burial to follow in the Pine Plains Cemetery. Carl's family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Hospice of Michigan, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
