Carol Esther (Ebbitt) Chapin's Obituary
Carol Esther (Ebbitt) Chapin, age 85, of Lakeview (formerly of Morley) peacefully passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at her home. Carol was born September 9, 1931, and raised in rural Morley to George and Dorothy Ebbitt. She was Valedictorian of Morley High School Class of 1949. Upon graduation, Carol attended Davenport College receiving her Secretarial Degree. She married Roy G Chapin on March 4, 1951, at the United Church of Christ in Lakeview. Carol was a homemaker, amazing seamstress, the Cato Twp. Cemetery Sexton, and sold christmas cards and Studio Girl. She also did the books for their business, and oversaw the building of their home. Carol was also a Girl and Boy Scout Leader. She enjoyed sewing (she was known as "The Barbie Doll Lady"), reading, grandchildren esp. Basketball, being a mom, shopping, remodeling, and enjoyed taking care of the cemetery for over 30 years.
Carol will be missed by her children Marcy (Tim) Ferguson, Steven Chapin, Kevin (Donna) Chapin, Danette (Dan) Mondrella, and Michelle (John) Schwartz; grandchildren Brandon (Amy) Bennett, Bradey (May) Bennett, Brooke (Brian) Aten, Brent (Brittany) Ferguson, Brock (Brittany) Ferguson, Danielle (Rory) Shea, Nicolle York, Michael (Megan) York, Stephanie York, Angela York (Joe Bugeja), Myriah, Kolter, and McKenzie Schwartz; great-grandchildren Ethan and Hannah Bennett, Alyssa and Dierks Bennett, Hailey York, and Jacob Bugeja; two sisters-in-laws; three special cousins; and ten nieces and nephews; and everyone who called her Grandma.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Roy Chapin in 1994; her parents George Ebbitt and Dorothy Russell; and Roy's brothers and sisters and their spouses.
Funeral services for Carol will take place on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 12:00 noon at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, MI with Pastor Dave England officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. All are invited to a luncheon in the Brigham Funeral Chapel Banquet Room following the internment at Cato Twp. Cemetery. Contributions in Carol's memory may be made to Lakeview Sports Boosters or Charity of Choice.
