Carol Janice Cogswell's Obituary
Lakeview-Carol Janice (Badge) Cogswell, age 80, of Six Lakes passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at her home, surrounded by family. She was born on June 26, 1940 in Six Lakes, the daughter of George and Hattie (Sharp) Badge. Carol was raised in Kent City prior to the family moving back to Six Lakes, where she attended school and spent the rest of her life. She married Floyd Allen Cogswell at the Masonic Lodge in Howard City on January 6, 1955. Carol was employed picking cherries in Traverse City as a teenager and went on to be employed by various Montcalm County potato farmers running the sorter, harvester, bin piler and the grader for over 62 years before her retirement in 2018. Carol was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother, who was extremely family oriented, kindhearted, and a hard worker. She was great cook and baker, making the best molasses cookies in the entire world! Everyone was always welcome at her table and in her home, making it the neighborhood hangout while she raised her family and beyond. Carol told the best stories and turned many of them into little songs. She was not afraid to speak her mind and often said, "If you look hard enough you can always find good in everyone". She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and quilting. Carol will be deeply missed by every life she touched.
Carol is survived by her children, Mike (Cheryl) Cogswell of Six Lakes, Ron (Caroline) Cogswell of Six Lakes, James Cogswell of Six Lakes, Janice (Jim) Bogardus of Howard City, Frank (Betty Jo) Cogswell of Six Lakes, Mikey Cogswell of Grand Rapids; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Noreen) Badge of Trufant; sisters, Ruthann (Clare) Johnston of Trufant and Diane Maguire of Lakeview; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, Floyd; her parents, George and Hattie Badge; granddaughter, Jinger Cogswell; great-grandson, Derek Cogswell; and siblings, Don Badge, Arlene Kohn, Marie Beemer, Rose Beemer, Betty Beemer, Virginia Maguire, and Peggy Cogswell.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes.
