As a neighbor, grandchildren of the hafey family, as someone who saw her as a friend. Carol was the kindest and best person from my experience.
I shared wonderful memories especially around Halloween. I may not be well known but will always keep my love in my heart from such wonderful memories from Halloween to her craft store. These wonderful photos are from some of the memories I shared with sweet carol and her family.
Always witty n made light of most everything in her life. Even during her last hours when she wanted to get up and was redirected she'd say "Oh, c'mon"...
Fishing in Oklahoma and the many places we visited:Devon Tower, Cowboy Western Heritage Museum, Pops and The Round Barn that had the Outhouse that Carol "had to try out"
The way she advocated for her Momma.

Carol, my sista from another mother, you always liked introducing me to new experiences. This was one of those 2016 memories I will hold close. Thanks for being my friend for over 60 years!

I was sad to read of Carol’s passing. Although I did not know her as an adult, it was fun to hook up with her through Facebook in recent years. I lived the first 3 years of life as a neighbor in Remus and we always connected back with her family when we came back to visit as kids. My parents were Pat and Lucille Schiffer. Since my mom owned the Dew Drop Inn, next door to Carol’s Grandma, where she visited often, Carol has had a special place in my heart. Then we had 8 years together at St. Mike’s, where we often played together on the playground. Except during the winter months when she and Jim were in Florida, they were always present at our Mecosta-Remus mini-reunion luncheons, where we shared more stories. Several of us from the class of 66 enjoyed a day with Carol in her home as she taught us how to make beautiful scarves. She set the most magnificent tables I have ever witnessed. She was so talented and always had a smile on her face. I will miss her dearly and look forward to the time when I can see her again. Jon and I send sincere condolences to Jim, her family, and loved ones.
