Catharine "Kay" Areline Beardslee's Obituary
Lakeview-Catharine Areline Beardslee (Swartwood), age 94, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, at The Brook assisted living. Born on June 8, 1930, in Morley, Catharine was the beloved daughter of Harry and Carol Swartwood (Doxdator). Catharine, affectionately known as Kay, was the devoted wife of Irvin L. Beardslee, whom she married on January 20, 1950, at Solon Center Church. Together, they built a loving family, who survive her, including their children: Darrell Beardslee (Luanne) of Morley, Gordon Beardslee of Phoenix, AZ, and Debra Thompson (Doug) of Stanwood. Kay was a proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to 26 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Liz Perez (Bob). She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irvin; parents, Harry and Carol; her dear sisters, Helen, Thelma, Betty and her brothers, Dale and Fred. Kay dedicated 23 years of her life working as a Teacher's Aide for Lakeview Community Schools, where she touched the lives of many students with her kindness and patience. A graduate of Morley Stanwood School in 1949, she was a faithful member of Brockway Wesleyan Church in Morley, where she taught Sunday school for many years, sharing her love for children and her faith. Kay was a woman of many talents, including being a skilled seamstress and quilt maker. Her creativity and warmth will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. Funeral services for Kay will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Brockway Wesleyan Church in Morley with Pastors Rick Carpenter and Jeff Lemire officiating. The family will greet guests from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at the Altona Cemetery.
