Catherine A. Miller's Obituary
Surrounded by her loving family, Catherine Ann "Katie" Miller, 70, of Big Rapids, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was born October 8, 1941, in Big Rapids, the daughter of Raymond J. and Bernadette W. (Dutmers) Miller, and lived in Big Rapids her entire life. Katie attended St. Mary's Catholic School, and then graduated from Big Rapids High School in 1959. For a number of years, Katie worked at Wolverine World Wide, and more recently had worked at Greenridge Nursing Center (now Metron). She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she was active in the PCCW. Katie also belonged to the Rosary Makers of Grand Rapids, and made hundreds of rosaries to send for missions throughout the world. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially afghans and sweaters. Katie was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are 2 brothers, Raymond (Joan) Miller of Grand Rapids, Martin (Nancy) Miller of Muskegon; 2 sisters, Theresa Miller of Big Rapids, Ruthmary Miller of Spring Lake; and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and cousins. She was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law Donna Miller. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids, with Fr. Lam T. Le celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Katie's family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. today (Monday) at the church, with a Rosary Service beginning at 7 p.m. Friends may also call after 10 a.m. on Tuesday until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested for the St. Mary's School Playground Fund, and may be left at the church or in care of the Mohnke Funeral Home, where arrangements are entrusted.
