Charles D Boelens' Obituary
Charles D. Boelens, age 66 of Barryton, passed away July 25, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Cremation will take place with no service to follow. Chuck was born April 13, 1951, in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Henry and Margaret (Fennema) Boelens. He was raised in Fremont, MI where he graduated high school before attending Michigan State University. Chuck married the love of his life, Robin Dixon, on November 15, 1995, and the two spent 22 wonderful years together. Chuck spent 20 years as a truck driver for Dean Foods before retiring in 2012. He truly enjoyed his work and those he worked alongside. He was known as the “human GPS” by his family, because he knew every short cut, rest stop, and gas station in just about every state there was. A true Tigers fan, Chuck rarely missed a game on T.V., and wasn’t very pleased when he had to. He also enjoyed tinkering and working on things around the house, cooking, and watching the birds outside. He was an avid reader of Tom Clancy novels and would finish them in a few days when given the chance. A true Dutch, Chuck was known to be stubborn. But he was also known to be patient, kind, and good-hearted by those that knew him best. He never met a stranger and had a way of making others feel very comfortable around him. And even when someone would be driving him crazy, he still never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Robin; children, Rusty (Tiffany) Boelens, Megan (Ryan) Greeson, Tori Dixon, and Josh Faber; brothers, Jim, Bob, and Ken Boelens; sister, Joyce Tinney, and eight grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Boelens, and sister, Jean Dunning.
