Charles Vincent Bradley's Obituary
Big Rapids-Charles V. Bradley, 47, of Big Rapids, passed away Friday, October 3, 2014 at Heartland Nursing Home in Three Rivers, Michigan. He was born June 14, 1967 (Flag Day as he reminded everyone) in Garden City, MI, the son of Charles J. and Shirlee A. (Ballard) Bradley. Chuck lived in Inkster before moving to Irons, MI. He worked for MOARC in Big Rapids and moved to Evergreen Apartments Independent Living in 1997. From there he moved to an independent home on Ross Parkway and began close friendships with his roommates, Nick Boyd, Nick Borders, James Tater, Dan McShane, and Ron Shanks. He became very close and loved his staff, Donna Swisher and Nicole, who took them all on many trips and cared for Chuck until August 9th. His goal in life was to get a job, which he did at Meijer in Big Rapids. He worked there for ten years with great co-workers until his health declined. He loved his job and there wasn't anyone Chuck didn't like. Chuck is survived by a sister, Kellie J. (Dan) Allen of Baldwin; niece Meggian; two nephews, Dan and Anthony; Grandma Bradley; many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Bradley and Ballard families as well as dear friends, Joe and Joyce Drouillard and family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirlee, in 1999 and his father, Chuck, in 1996 as well as his Grandfather Bradley and grandparents, Howard & Jean Ballard. There are so many people to thank for helping Chuck become the person he was, especially MOARC, Hope Network, and Special Olympics. He was very proud of his awards. Chuck loved horses, line dancing, country music, and his idol, Elvis! The short time he was at Heartland Hospice, he was well-cared for, made many nice friends, and teased the nurses! There will be no services. Cremation has taken place. His remains will join his Mom and Dad at a later time. The family suggests memorials be made in Chuck's honor to the charity or organization of your choice.
