Charles James Lau Sr.'s Obituary
Edmore-Charles James Lau Sr., age 75, of Edmore, passed away at Mid-Michigan Hospital in Alma on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. He was born in Detroit on September 19, 1945 the son of Joseph and Irene (Bishop) Lau. He was raised in the Detroit area and attended Catholic Schools, graduating with the class of 1963. Charles was employed as a truck driver for Mid-West Trucking, hauling paper products over the road for 15 years, and then at Ford Building in Detroit as a maintenance man for 15 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to church, working on cars, anything Detroit sports related, and playing Words with Friends on his tablet. More than anything he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his children; Charles (Melissa) Lau Jr. of Edmore, Kenneth (Corinna) Lau of Edmore, Jennifer Lau of Kentwood; grandchildren, Katelyn Lau, Allison Lau, Autumn Lau, Olivia Lau, Brendan Sellman, Kayla Sellman; former wife, Shirley Lau; brothers and sisters, Mary (Craig) Langlois, Pattie Lau Belonge, Kathy (George) Tomsha, Michael Lau, Diane Conway; brother-in-law, Jim Lochridge, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Joyce Lochridge, Dennis Lau, Joseph Lau Jr.; brothers-in-law, Fred Belonge, and Paul Conway.
A funeral mass will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore. The family will greet friends from 10am until time of service. A luncheon will be held at Charlie's place, immediately following services.
