Chuck was a kind and gentle man. From picking me up on the "mini" bus to serving as our school custodian, Chuck had a way of making all of us feel important and to put a smile on our faces. If this world could have more Chuck Lund's in it, we wouldn't need an anti-bullying policy in schools. Chuck is one of the individuals who influenced me to serve out a career in public education. He died the day before I started my training for the superintendency of schools. I know the Lord welcomed him into Heaven with the words, "Chuck, my good and faithful son and servant".

Nancy and Families- Prayers for your family for the loss of your father. I remember him at the School and we ran into your parents a couple times at the Kalkaska McDonalds on our way to Petoskey- seemed like it was their easy place to stop on the way up too- and they always spoke, usually as surprised to see a familiar face as I was. My memory was of my daughter Lori & Mr. Lund. She would conveniently "forget" her books to do her homework. I then, walked her back to the school and she asked Mr. Lund if he would allow her to go to her locker, which he did. After Mr. Lund and I discussed her forgetfullness, he told Lori to find him anytime and he would let her get her homework...which she did multiple times per week! They became good friends, so thankful for his patience. We also loved going to their barn during Halloween! He and his family had a wonderful haunted barn, which we went to every year! I remember those days. Mr. Lund was not only kind to me, but he was also kind to all of the students. His patience was resilient. He is definitely someone I will never forget. I was saddened after I finished high school to learn he gave up his famous haunted barn. I looked forward to this event each and every year. Yes, I was and still am a very forgetful person, but he gave me a piece of advice one time...."Forgetfulness is just a part of life. Find ways to remember what's important, forget what's not." I still use his advice to this day and live my life to the best I can. Sleep well, Chuck! You will be missed!
