Charles Louis Schuberg's Obituary
Charles Lewis Schuberg, age 87, of Tucson, Arizona, formerly of Big Rapids, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025.
Born with a deep curiosity for the skies, Charles earned his master’s degree in aeronautics and went on to have a long and fulfilling career with Honeywell Rockwell Aeronautics in California. His work reflected both his brilliance and his dedication to advancing aviation technology.
When not working among the clouds, Charles found his joy on the ground and in the heart of Michigan. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved snowmobiling, fishing, tubing, and motorcycling. A true family man, he cherished the simple moments spent with his loved ones and was always happiest surrounded by them.
A licensed pilot, Charles found immense joy in flying and often shared that joy by taking family members up with him. Those flights were more than just rides—they were treasured memories made in the sky.
Charles will be remembered for his generous spirit, his sense of adventure, and his unwavering love for family. He was caring, loving, and full of life—a man who gave his all to the people and passions he held dear.
He is survived by his nieces, Rosemarie Antczak Spence and Ovamarie Antczak Wood both of Big Rapids; great nieces, Amber Spence-Fagan and Carrie Wood Fluette; and great nephews, Matthew Wood and Jacob Spence. Charles was preceded in death by his wife Carol; parents, Arthur and Ova Mae (Troupe) Schuberg; sister Edna Jean Antczak; and nephew Fredric Antczak.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Pine Plains Cemetery in Big Rapids. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in his name may be made to a Hospice of your choice. Share a memory or express condolences at mohnkefuneralhome.com.
