Charles "Chuck" Edward Wernette's Obituary
On July 25, 2023, Charles Edward Wernette passed away peacefully at the age of 84. Born on the first of March, 1939, to Herbert and Naomi (Rankert) Wernette, Chuck filled his days with joy and purpose, staying close to his roots his entire life.
Chuck attended St. Michael’s school in his youth, then went to Remus High School where he was a basketball star. It was with the Remus Rams during those High School days that he set the school scoring record. After High School graduation, he attended Central Michigan University, where he was on the basketball team. After CMU, he entered the world of banking. In his genial and hardworking fashion, Chuck worked his way up the ladder, eventually becoming Sr. VP and primary loan officer. It was in this position that he was able to help numerous local businesses realize their dreams.
A ladies man at heart, Chuck left a trail of laughter everywhere he went. He lit up a room and it seemed the party had begun when Chuck entered. His favorite things would also include a beer, a cigar and chicken wings. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, Chuck could be found golfing in the summer, hunting during the fall and spending several winters in Alabama. As the kids and grandkids grew, he was a staple on the sidelines of any sporting events, cheering them on and reminding the players to “look alive!”.
Chuck would hold court at local taverns, having a drink with buddies and making them smile with a joke or two. While his public presence was large and jovial, he reserved quiet moments for his children and grandchildren, devoted to them in his special way.
Chuck Wernette will be missed by all who knew him.
Preceding Chuck in death are his parents; Sister, Barbara Ray; Brother-in-law, Andy Fatouretchi; Son-in-Law, Richard Brandewie.
