Charles A. Wiedman's Obituary
Stanwood Charles A. Wiedman, 92, of Carrollton, GA, formerly of Canadian Lakes, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at Carrollton Manor Nursing Facility in Carrollton. He was born January 10, 1916 in Dowagiac, Michigan, the son of Ross and Naomi (Raymond) Wiedman. On December 29, 1942, Charles married Doris Kreager, and they made their home in various locations while Charles served in the U.S. Army during WWII, including Guam. Following his discharge, they raised their seven children in the Detroit area before retiring to Canadian Lakes and Bradenton, Florida in 1970. The couple made their final move to Carrollton in 1999, and Doris preceded him in death in 2006. Charles worked as an independent Certified Public Accountant for many years, and belonged to various professional societies. He was a long-time member of St. Michaels Catholic Church in Remus, and enjoyed traveling, playing cards (especially cribbage), and spending time with family and friends. Surviving are three sons, Chuck (Sue) Wiedman of Allentown, N.J., Tim of Lincoln, NE, Mark of Zeeland, MI.; three daughters, Peggy (Bill) Gauthier of Brunswick, GA., Janie Shepherd-Worthington (Mike) of Big Rapids, and Mary Sue (Jim) Bieski of Middleville, MI.; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Charles was also preceded in death by a son Bill, son-in-law Mark Shepherd, and sisters Iris Sindt and Ines Page. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Remus, with Rev. Charles D. Hall celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Michaels Cemetery. Charless family will greet friends on Sunday, August 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made for the Carroll County Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 1273, Carrollton, GA 30112, or left in care of the funeral home.
