Cheryl Lynn Girskis' Obituary
Cheryl Lynn Girskis, age 70, of Greenville, unexpectedly passed away at home on Sunday, July 17, 2016. Cheryl was born on December 30, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Richard and Gloria (Fischer) Nostrand. Cheryl graduated from Farmington High School Class of 1964. Cheryl was the most kindhearted, selfless and giving person that anyone had the pleasure of knowing. She loved spending time with her family and doing her daily crosswords. She did get out weekly playing dominoes and bingo where she enjoyed her time at the Greenville Senior Center. She made visits when she could to family and friends that usually meant that you got a homemade meal or some token of appreciation.
Cheryl and her widowed husband, Tom Girskis spent their past years remodeling an 100 plus year old farm house, gardening, canning, and selling fresh vegetables at their home. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Cheryl is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Clifton) Dickinson of Greenville; a son Joe (Lynn) Girskis of Trufant; grandchildren Dylan Deal, Kaci (Travis) Walker, Krista Dickinson, Justin and Kaelee Girskis; step-father Edward Rupp; siblings Debbie (Larry) Pilicik of Houston, TX, Jennifer Kaplan of Livonia, MI, Leslie Clark of Tampa, FL; sister-in-laws Rose (Mike) Livingston of South Lyon, Marci Kuciemba of South Lyon, and Nancy Samalot of Newaygo; and many nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years Thomas Girskis in 2005; her parents Richard Nostrand and Gloria Rupp.
A Celebration of Cheryl's life will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2:00 pm with visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 9844 SW Greenville Rd, Greenville, MI 48838, with Pastor Betsy Kamphuis officiating. There will be light refreshments following at the church. Memorial Contributions in Cheryl's memory may be made to the Greenville Senior Center in Lieu of flowers.
