Clifford James Campeau's Obituary
Clifford “Cliff” James Campeau, age 80 of Canadian Lakes, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Woodland Hospice in Mt. Pleasant.
A funeral mass will be held in Cliff’s honor Saturday, October 8th at 11:00 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Remus. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus (Rosary service at 7:30 PM), and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at church.
Cliff was born September 4, 1936 in Detroit, MI, the son of Clifford and Mary (Bordeau) Campeau. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957 before being honorably discharged. Cliff married the love of his life, Carol Montroy on January 23, 1960, and together the two grew their family to include eight children. In 1968, Cliff and Carol decided to move to Canton, MI where they would live for 27 years before moving to Canadian Lakes.
Hard working, loyal and generous, Cliff worked for General Motors for 33 years before retiring in 1990. He was an active member of St. Michael’s Parish in Remus and the Knights of Columbus after moving to Canadian Lakes in 1995. Cliff was a founding member of God’s Helping Hands and volunteered his time to the charity.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Carol Campeau; children, Clifford Jr. (Julie), Richard (Nancy), Anthony, Maria Spencer, Jeffry (Cynthia), Daniel, Ronda (Michael) Duran, and Matthew; sister, Elizabeth (Roger) McGilvray; 18 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson Brandon.
