Colleen Webb Naru's Obituary
Edmore- Colleen Webb Naru, age 96, of Edmore, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2020 at the Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor in St. Johns. She was born in Riverdale on August 23, 1924, the daughter of Clair and Mildred (Tupper) Stauffer. Colleen grew up on the family farm at Rock Lake. She attended and graduated from Vestaburg High School, Montcalm County Normal and Central Michigan University, where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. She started teaching at the age of 17, at the Country School at Rock Lake. Upon completion of her degree she went on to teach at Six Lakes School, Edmore Community Schools and Montabella Community Schools, retiring in 1985 with more than 30 years of service. Colleen was a great mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, baking and entertaining. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the Edmore Women's Club. She was recently inducted into the Vestaburg Sports Hall of Fame as a team player and as a coach of Girls Basketball. She will be greatly missed.
Colleen is survived by her children, Maureen (Alan) Hockstra of Stanton, Myrna (Harry) Woods of Farmington Hills, C. Thomas (Elizabeth) Webb of St. Johns; grandchildren, Heather Mott, Heidi Kunz, Noelle Fenske, Jeremy Schneider, Courtney Wash, Zachary Webb; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce Stauffer Bussema of Vestaburg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years and father to her children, Morley Webb and Robert Naru, her husband of 18 years; her parents, Clair and Mildred; brothers and sister-in-law, Gary and Willa Stauffer of Midland and James Stauffer of Kentwood and Vestaburg; her brother-in-law's and sister-in-law's, Cullen and Bethel Webb of Breckenridge, Wilfred and Virginia Webb of Hazel Park.
A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Vinewood Cemetery in Edmore, with Pastor Dan Barkholz officiating.
