Connie Jean Cornell's Obituary
Connie Cornell, 75, of Six Lakes, Michigan, died in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan after a hard-fought battle with dementia. Connie was born in Edmore, Michigan in 1948 to Melvin and Betty Erskin. She graduated from Edmore High School and attended Davenport College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She enjoyed working as an administration assistant and bank teller before retiring from Edmore Tool & Grinding.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, John Cornell, whom she married in 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Betty Erskin, and nieces Mindi Murra and Amanda Sheets.
Between them, John and Connie are survived by seven children: Jolyn Stanley (Dan), John Cornell (Lundi McFarland), Jill Goodfellow (Randy), Corie Hadder (Dennis Wise), Derrick Hadder (Mayssoun Hamade), Shaina Kramer, and Jennifer Cornell (Matt Bidlingmeyer). Connie is also survived by her beloved sister, Karen Sheets (Victor), and brother Charles Erskin. Connie was blessed with 11 grandchildren who brought her immense joy, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.
Connie will be remembered for her infectious laugh and deep love for her friends and family. She gave back to her community by running a food pantry and volunteering for various church causes. She loved music and her dogs, and also enjoyed gardening and golf. She didn't hesitate to travel near and far to watch her children and grandchildren participate in sports. Connie's favorite hobby was showing her love by cooking and baking for her loved ones.
The family is planning a celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family will provide a worthy cause for donations at that time.
