Connie Jean Cron's Obituary
Canadian Lakes-Connie J. Cron, 69, of Canadian Lakes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2015, in the company of loved ones. Her lengthy battle with kidney disease has come to a restful end. Connie was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on August 22, 1945, to Arthur and Betty Hall. She resided in Saginaw throughout her childhood and, after graduating from Arthur Hill High School, attended Central Michigan University. After obtaining her degree and certificate she began a 32 year career as an elementary educator, teaching in Saginaw, Grand Haven, and Big Rapids. Her commitment to her charges and her dedication to her work were exemplary, and the young kids always welcomed her loving hugs. On June 22, 1974, Connie married Michael Cron in Spring Lake, Michigan. They resided in Grand Haven for eight years before moving to Big Rapids, and then to Canadian Lakes. Her love for life was manifest in all the things she enjoyed doing. She loved to fish, especially with the grandkids. She loved to travel and to go camping, enjoyed the occasional visit to a casino, cherished game playing opportunities and was an avid bridge player. Connie was gifted musically and enjoyed singing, including a time in the local group Voca Lyrica. She was a talented comedic actress, displaying her skill at CMU, and on stage in community theatre groups in Grand Haven, with STAGE-M in Big Rapids, and in Canadian Lakes. Most of all, she loved her family. Connie is survived by her husband, daughter Cara (Jason) Baker, son Andrew (Rachelle Martin) Cron, grandchildren Lilly, Maya, Porter, Molly, Jared, Celia and Taylor, sisters Susan and Mary Jo (Dawn Phillips), brother John (Julie) Hall, brothers-in-law Steve Cron, Ken (Jolene) Cron, Ron (Kathy) Cron, and Joe (Jill) Cron and sisters-in-law Barbara (Douglas) Nastally and Susan (Michael) McDermott. She is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews, many cousins and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and nephews Jeffrey, Jay and Daniel and niece Marie. In her soul, Connie was a teacher, and everyone who encountered her in whatever manner learned something from her. That is her legacy. Funeral services for Connie will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 9, 2015 at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father Steve Cron officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Big Rapids Hospital Foundation/Mecosta County Medical Center Canadian Lakes Fund.
