Connie Ann Doerr's Obituary
Connie Ann Doerr, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at her home surrounded by family, at the age of 76. Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, March 17th at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, with Fr. Aaron Ferris as celebrant. Family will greet friends at Hansen Janowicz funeral home from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, with a rosary service at 7:30 PM, and again on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to the time of service at the church.
Connie was born March 21, 1938, the daughter of Larry and Reta (Fountain) Smith. Locally educated, Connie graduated from Remus High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Vern on September 7, 1957, and together they grew their family to include four children. Her favorite times were those spent with friends, family and especially her grandchildren. Connie truly lived for family get-togethers as well as other social functions. In her earlier years, she and Vern did a lot of traveling with a large group of friends and neighbors. The two were also in a card club for over 40 years, which Connie thoroughly enjoyed. Her hobbies included cooking, bookkeeping, taking care of her family and writing beautiful letters and cards to friends and family.
Gentle, kind, generous and caring were words used to describe Connie. She was as selfless as they come and always worried more about others than herself.
Her warmth will be truly missed by her husband of 57 years, Vern; children, Larry (Mary Jo) Doerr, Terry (Julie) Doerr and Brian “BJ” Doerr; brother, Ronald (Paula) Smith; grandchildren, David, Heather, Lowell, Andrew, Celia; great-granddaughter, Abigail and many nieces and nephews.
Sadly, Connie was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Doerr in 1990 and her parents.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions to St. Michael’s School in Remus or Spectrum Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
