Connie Small's Obituary
Connie (Rowe) Small, age 61, of Langston passed away at Corewell Health Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids on Saturday, February 17, 2024. She was born in Grand Rapids on September 24, 1962, the daughter of Thurman and Alma (Murrel) Rowe. Connie was raised in Michigan and Kentucky, before settling into Montcalm County as an adult. She was employed as a cook in various area restaurants as well as by Sandy Land Farms for over 7 years prior to her retirement in 2012. Connie met the love of her life, Douglas Deitz on New Years Eve 1990. She had a passion for deer hunting, fishing, gardening, mushrooming, snowmobiling and anything outdoors. Connie was a great cook and was known for her amazing wildflower garden. She loved hanging out in her garden shed, being a mother and spending time with her family and friends. Connie will forever be missed and is survived by, Douglas Deitz of Langston; children, Richard Small (Angela) of Topinabee, Elizabeth Deitz (Mike) of Lakeview, Travis Deitz of Langston, Marissa Deitz of Greenville, Leah Hufford (Jared) of Edmore; grandchildren, Allen, Abigail, Sylas, June, Tyler, Charlie, Calvin, Journee, Easton; siblings, Manuel, Daniel, Carol, Geraldine, Judy, Kimmy; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and the entire Murrell family. She was preceded in death by, her parents, Thurman and Alma; sister, Katy; brother, Samuel. A celebration of Connie's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Pine Township Hall, in Langston. Those wishing to donate in Connie's memory are asked to consider the needs of her family.
