Coral M. Chase's Obituary
Vestaburg - Coral M. Chase, age 89, of Vestaburg, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI. Coral was born April 11, 1928, in Ferris Center, the daughter of Benjamin and Thelma (Barber) Corder. She was raised and lived in the Vestaburg area. Coral attended college at County Normal in Education. She met and married her husband of 55 years, Irah Nelson Chase, on Aug. 20, 1946. Coral was employed for GTE as a Telephone Operator for 20 years until her retirement in 1990. Coral was also employed by Perry Country School for a few years, was a bartender and waitress for Staffens and Steve's in Edmore, and as a secretary for D&J Refuse for 5 years. The most important job she ever had was watching her grandchildren.
Coral enjoyed playing piano, crossword puzzles, taking care of her Dog "Oscar", camping, and going out to dinner, and collecting dolls. She was a member of Pine River Church of God.
Coral will be missed by her children Sheila King of Stanton, Jessica (Dean) King of Vestaburg, Roger (Rachel) Chase of Lake City, and Michael "Pete" (Denise) Chase of Lake City; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; one sister Evelyn Snyder of Vestaburg; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Coral was preceded in death by her husband Nelson Chase in Oct. 11, 2001; her parents Benjamin and Thelma Corder; one brother James Corder; sister Mary Guild; and son-in-law Ronald King; two grandchildren Doris Annette, and Gregory Dean King.
Funeral services for Coral will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11:00 a. m. with a visitation one hour prior at Brigham Funeral Chapel with Pastor George Showers officiating. A luncheon will follow the graveside service in Richland Twp. Cemetery at Pine River Church of God. Those wishing to make a contribution in Coral's memory are asked to consider Pine River Church of God.
